This Moment Remembered

Our dear friend and mentor, Valerie Randall, passed away a few weeks ago. Several artists from our creative community made digital scrapbooking layouts in her honor. Here is mine.

journaling

i can hear her laughing,
as she was wont do. and
the sound is as musical
in my memory as it was when
i originally heard it, a true
gift that bit. she was always
welcoming life’s blessings, no
matter the size, finding as much
joy in cracked and crumbling bricks
as one might in designer shoes. she
was born that way: instilled with the
innate ability to love and laugh and
dream and create and share and support
and teach and pray as a celebration of
each and every moment. you could tell by
looking at her; happiness radiated from
her very being, this tiny dynamo ready to
tackle and hug the world. it was why people
were always drawn to her - pulled into her
life light, mesmerized by her spirit, charmed
by her twinkling eyes and lightning quick wit.
a regular pied piper of the artistic world -
inspiration and imagination from tip to toe.
it was fascinating to watch her work, the way
ideas bounced right out of her brain and onto
one of the zillion projects she was working on.
it’s not surprising though, she was creativity
personified, with enough genius and insight left
over to share with us mere mortals. lucky, lucky us.
